Hello, I would like some wiht help two items to assist in player tracking in sports analysis.
I need to create a rotating circle to place under a player, and also a dynamic arrow to place above the players head.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest using mocha pros grid tracker. It will be able to track the movements of the Athlete and you will be able to connect the track to a 3d null to follow the movement. If you do not have Mocha Pro then the default AE motion tracker should work. For both of those ways you would need to rotoscope the actor out. The Mocha AE should work for the rotoscoping.

You can actually achieve that fairly easily using simple 2D point trackers in After Effects. There’s no need to do any fancy 3D or planar tracking, you just need to get the players position within the video frame and you can then parent all sorts of arrows or graphics to them. I have a tutorial for Motion Tracking in Adobe After Effects here:[youtube id=”glsHBYwlYmU” timestamps=””]
In order to place something like the circle ‘underneath’ the player, you have to rotoscope or green screen the players so they can be ‘on top’ of other graphic elements. Since the playing field is green grass you can use general green screening techniques to separate the players from the background and place them on top.
Here’s a tutorial on how to do green screening in Adobe After Effects:[youtube id=”GvmVwNSU6j8″ timestamps=””]
